Zubeida Tariq is a well known figure for TV and radio audiences, because of her innumerable cooking programmes on radio and on different TV channels. She has also conducted cooking classes in schools and colleges. At present she is working for Unilever in their Best food Department. She lives in Karachi with her family.
About the Book
Zubeida Tariq’s well known recipes in this book include meat, vegetables, rice poultry and seafood recipes. The book is divided in different parts for the convenience of the user. There is a section on special recipes for children of foods popular among them; recipes for special occasions, Hyderabadi and Punjabi Breakfast, pickles, chutneys, Chinese food, desserts and soft drinks. A useful addition in this book is the many tips or totkas which are of everyday use in the kitchen and around the house. A glossary of Urdu words and an index to locate recipes quickly has also been given.
A Pakistani meal generally consists of a meat dish, a vegetable dish, lentils, accompanied by chapatti and rice. Plain boiled rice and salad, chopped onions and cucumber or readymade pickle may be added to any meal.
Fresh fruit which is delicious and plentiful here is generally served after a meal rather than elaborate desserts. However, most Pakistani’s have a sweet tooth, so a sweet dish is always welcome. Accompanying drink with curries usually fresh cold water. But you may prefer seasonal juices, lassi or soft drinks.
